This trip leads you in the furthest tip of the Egyptian Western Desert. After you have learned to know the oases, you aim southwest into the area of Gilf El Kebir with its wonderful mountain formations and its valleys in which you meet vestiges of long gone times.

So at Abu Ballas on the clay vessels of huge water urns and cliff scratches. In Wadi Bakht you discover a dwelling which according to the researches of the University of Cologne was already inhabited in Neolithic times. This tidy Wadi will certainly capture you with its wonderful color contrasts. Orange sand, jet black volcano lava.

From the south tip of the Gilf you proceed directly toward the Djebel Unweinat. This mountain range is unique in its entire ecology. If you are lucky, you will discover a manned sheep. In the valley with many acacia trees you will find under the cliff ledges the unique cliff paintings, which became famous in the film "The English Patient". In the area of Djebel Unweinat, three countries meet: Sudan, Libya and Egypt. On the Egyptian side you have the opportunity of walking trips and excursions to explore the natural beauty of this area. On the return trip you drive past Crater Mountain. In Dakhla a hot bath in an artesian well awaits you. Then the return trip to Cairo.
